Cumberland County Selects EADS
Secure Networks for P25 Public Safety Radio System
Mission
Critical Radio System will facilitate Eastern Central
Tennessee Regional Radio interoperability

EADS Secure Networks North America (EADS) today confirmed
that Cumberland County, TN has selected EADS to deliver
a new Project 25 (P25) IP-Based, Digital, Trunked radio
system for its public safety officers.
The
Cumberland County Finance Committee announced the award
following the recommendation of the Countys Technical
Evaluation Committee and the Countys Emergency
Services Committee both who unanimous selected EADS
proposal. The new EADS P25 digital trunked system will
replace the Countys aging conventional, analog
system and is designed to support Cumberland Countys
Sheriff, Fire, Rescue, Communications District, Medical
Services and Emergency Management Agency.
The
unique terrain in Cumberland County represents a challenge
for radio coverage and after reviewing all bids, it
was clear that EADS proposed a comprehensive solution
to meet the critical coverage requirements of our Public
Safety officers and citizens, said Brock Hill,
Cumberland County, Tennessee Mayor. We believe
that the EADS proposal represents the best value to
Cumberland County and will result in a public safety
communications system with the reliability and expandability
to improve local, regional, and statewide Public Safety
radio interoperability.
The
EADS P25, IP-based, digital, trunked system blends a
distributed architecture with redundancy of key components
to create a highly reliable, Public Safety grade communications
platform. The new Cumberland County system will provide
network-level flexibility and interoperability with
legacy systems to assure that neighboring cities and
counties will be able to communications with Cumberland
County as needed.

addition to awarding the P25 Radio System to EADS, Cumberland
County has agreed to participate in EADS Technology
Development Program, whereby the County will share best
practices from its selection and implementation of the
P25 Standard with the Public Safety and P25 communities
nationally, providing insights to evolve and extend
the functionality, performance, and adoption of P25
as the North American Public Safety Standard.
